Northern Canada lags far behind the rest of the country in terms of telecommunications services.
Working with an aboriginal community and a private sector partner, Atmacinta helped to:
Evaluate potential demand to establish a cellular service provider to serve northern communities
Develop the business model to create and operate a cellular service provider in the north
Access funding to validate the technology to serve the north
Create Canada’s first cellular service company co-owned by an aboriginal partner, including all negotiations related thereto with the private sector partner and inter-carrier relations
Promote the company and aid in its expansion from serving 1 to 11 communities
Creation of a new Canadian cellular carrier
